Essential Functions

  • Provides assistance with application development, database design, network, and/or platform efforts, helping project teams comply with policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Researches, designs, and/or advocates for new technologies, architectures, and security products that will support security requirements for internal and external partners.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of information security strategy and architecture.
  • Analyzes business impact and exposure based on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
  • Communicates security risks and solutions to others, as needed.
  • May lead development projects and advise leadership and users on new or optimal technologies or methods to improve the functionality and/or efficiency.

Required Education And Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in related cybersecurity operations, engineering, or IT project management with a technical background.
  • Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience, up to four (4) years.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity operations, audit readiness, and security frameworks.
  • Skill in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
  • Ability to prepare for and support internal/external audits.
  • Skill in mentoring junior staff or student workers.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure fundamentals and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Ability to identify and automate manual cybersecurity processes.
  • Skill in collaborating across IT and non-IT teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position.
  • Ability to move or traverse across campus.
  • Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
