ICU Registered Nurse to support Shock Trauma PACU nights

About the role

The Shock Trauma Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a 12-bed, Phase 1 post-anesthesia care unit located in the Shock Trauma Tower at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). It operates 24/7, 365 days a year, primarily caring for adult patients (some adolescents) requiring post-operative care, with a focus on traumatic injury management. The unit also handles overflow from the Trauma Resuscitation Unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients requiring post-operative care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Adapt to complex patient scenarios
• Work in a dynamic and complex clinical environment

Requirements

• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland or eligible to practice under a compact license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred (Associates Nurses with at least 2+ years of experience are considered)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (preferably in Surgical/Trauma ICU)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required for hire
• Flexible and adaptable with strong critical thinking skills
