Ice Cream Shop Associate

About the Role

The Ice Cream Store Associate delivers friendly, efficient service to guests visiting the ice cream shop at Huber’s Orchard & Winery. This role is responsible for serving homemade ice cream, hand-crafted shakes, coffee beverages, and a variety of specialty cheeses while maintaining a clean, welcoming, and organized environment. Associates play a key role in creating a memorable guest experience by combining excellent customer service with attention to product quality and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Accurately take and fulfill orders for ice cream, shakes, coffee drinks, and cheese products.
• Provide product knowledge, including flavor descriptions, seasonal offerings, and pairing suggestions.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
• Scoop and present ice cream according to portion standards.
• Prepare milkshakes, specialty desserts, and basic coffee beverages.
• Slice, package, and present cheese products properly.
• Ensure consistent product quality and presentation.
• Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently.
• Process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions.
• Maintain accurate cash drawer balances.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment at all times.
• Follow food safety guidelines and proper handwashing procedures.
• Clean equipment, counters, display cases, floors, and guest areas.
• Assist with closing procedures including deep cleaning and restocking.
• Restock ice cream, toppings, cups, lids, coffee supplies, and cheese inventory as needed.
• Monitor product freshness and report low inventory.
• Rotate stock according to first-in, first-out (FIFO) standards.
• Work cooperatively with team members to maintain efficiency during peak hours.

Qualifications

• Previous food service or retail experience is helpful but not required.
• Comfortable operating a POS system and handling cash transactions.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
• Requires standing for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, and peak agritourism seasons.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in refrigerated environments.
