IBMi Systems Architect

For our client, a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space, we are seeking an IBMi Systems Architect to join their team. This role leads work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery, collaborating across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and long-term technology capabilities in a consumer-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test an onboarding process for new team members
• Provide mentorship to the systems engineering team and improve training documentation
• Design and implement modernization techniques following IBMi best practices
• Establish performance guidelines and compliance reporting for production applications
• Implement documentation standards for existing applications and databases
• Develop a long-term improvement plan for system administration and security
• Lead issue management processes for prioritization and escalation of technical issues
• Design and implement an AI strategy to enhance operational efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
• 10+ years of IBMi software development expertise, particularly in RPG/RPGLE
• 5+ years in application architecture and design specifically with IBMi
• 5+ years of experience with JDA MMS software
• 5+ years of IBMi systems and security administration experience
• In-depth knowledge of the IBMi operating system and associated hardware
• Experience implementing and managing user/application security in a large IBMi environment
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences

Pay

$107,600 – $157,600 annually
