What You'll Do
- Coverage of supplier surveillance at vendor facilities (pre-qualification, periodic, and for-cause)
- Verification of compliance with contracts, specs, drawings, ITPs, codes, and Tesla quality requirements for electrical and instrumentation scope
- Review and validation of vendor documentation packages, including ITPs, material certifications, nameplate/datasheet compliance, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, inspection/test records, calibration certificates, FAT procedures and results, software/configuration records (as applicable), and equipment data books/O&Ms
- Witness and verify critical fabrication, inspection, and test activities at hold/witness points
- Identification, documentation, and tracking of nonconformances
- Collaboration with suppliers on corrective actions and verification of effective closure before shipment or final acceptance
- Preparation of clear, actionable surveillance and inspection reports with findings, risk assessment, and recommended disposition
- Communication of results to Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and project stakeholders to support sourcing and release decisions
- Verification of pre-shipment readiness, including preservation, packing, tagging/identification, ESD/moisture protection (as applicable), and shipping documentation
- Monitoring of supplier quality trends and feeding performance data into continuous improvement efforts and the vendor quality database
What You'll Bring
- Relevant electrical/instrumentation inspection, commissioning, or vendor surveillance qualification preferred
- Minimum of 8 years’ inspection/audit experience on large-scale industrial or energy projects, including at least 3 years in vendor surveillance / source inspection of electrical and/or instrumentation equipment and assemblies
- Working familiarity with supplier quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work independently at supplier facilities, exercise sound release/hold judgment, investigate quality issues, and drive corrective action to closure
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (domestic and/or international), often on short notice, with a valid passport or ability to obtain passport and required visas
- Solid understanding of quality management principles across fabrication/assembly, test, shipment, and project turnover
- Ability to perform in a high-performance, cross-functional environment with tight timelines
