Position Summary

The I/E Flare & Combustion Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and electrical systems associated with flare and combustion equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems for flare and combustion equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including PLCs, analyzers, transmitters, and control valves
  • Perform startup and commissioning activities for new and modified flare systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnostic testing to ensure system reliability and compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize system performance
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and equipment histories
  • Respond to emergency service calls and perform corrective actions as needed

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, preferably in flare, combustion, or oil/gas/petrochemical environments
  • Proficiency with calibration tools, multimeters, loop calibrators, and diagnostic software
  • Working knowledge of DCS, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Understanding of hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
