Audubon is seeking a senior-level Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Engineering Specialist to join our team in Metairie, LA.
Responsibilities
- Independently prepare intermediate to advanced specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, component needs, design requirements, applicable codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
- Prepare engineering sketches, perform calculations, and develop analysis models for complex projects.
- Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
- Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
- Set realistic expectations and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Adhere to company quality standards and engineering checking/approval procedures.
- Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards and regulations.
- Participate in hazard identification and observation programs; report unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents immediately.
- Collaborate with drafting/design groups to develop and review engineering drawings.
- Visit job sites to evaluate conditions and project requirements.
- Inspect vendor facilities to ensure equipment compliance with specifications.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions, as well as bid tabulations for equipment purchases.
- Perform checking of engineering drawings and mathematical calculations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while adhering to safe design practices.
- Plan and manage workload, budgets, and project resources; request assistance as needed.
- Develop, review, and/or approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages.
- Assist in developing internal design guidelines, specifications, and procedures.
- Assess project feasibility by evaluating materials, costs, and time requirements.
- Utilize complex and repetitive calculations for engineering tasks.
- Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules.
- Analyze strategies, equations, and applications to ensure appropriate procedures are used.
- Resolve design and development issues.
- Manage client relationships and develop repeat business opportunities.
- Compile discipline-specific man-hour estimates and Total Installed Cost estimates based on project scope.
- Manage and forecast man-hour requirements and schedules for discipline-specific projects.
- Lead medium to large multi-discipline projects, delegate assignments, distribute workload, and establish deadlines.
- Provide feedback to supervisors on co-worker performance and work-related issues.
- Offer advice and assistance on work techniques, best practices, and subject-matter expertise to co-workers.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Industry and field experience preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience leading medium/large multi-discipline projects preferred.
- Proficiency in SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), Control Valve Sizing, Meter Sizing, and Relief Valve Sizing software preferred.
- Working knowledge of instrument and electrical design codes (ISA, NEC, API, etc.) preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions to achieve goals.
- Ability to comprehend instructions and seek clarification as needed.
- Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and direct projects to completion.
