About the role

Perform instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration functions for the plant. Provide secondary support to the condition monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Control Systems (DCS), IT, and communication systems for the plant. Serve as the subject matter expert for the plant control system, including developing strategies for improved process controls and automation.

  • Recommend hardware and software for electrical and controls systems including power distribution and protective relaying.
  • Develop control philosophies and cause & effect documentation.
  • Create QA/QC plans for projects and operations support.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) including performing HAZOP analyses and reviews, and management of change process for process modifications, retrofits, and overhauls.
  • Maintain control system backup configuration files.
  • Complete redlining and updating of plant one-lines, schematics, electrical distribution, wiring diagrams, and other electrical and controls related documentation.
  • Provide regular on-site support at operating facilities.
  • Provide guidance for the selection, installation, and maintenance of process instrumentation including control valves, transmitters, switches, relays, UPS, etc.
  • Work closely with operation and maintenance personnel, project management personnel, internal and external engineers, and technical support personnel.

Company Support

  • Adhere to, support, and help enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control, and corrective actions.
  • Complete all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience managing control systems in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate or higher or technical certification in Electrical Instrumentation Technology, Controls Systems, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • ISA, CCST, CCE, CESCP, and/or SACA certification(s) preferred.
  • Ability to complete occasional work outside of normal working hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with industry codes and standards including NEC and NFPA.
  • Proficient with configuring and modifying control logic in PLC, VFD configurations, and HMI graphics.
  • Knowledge of software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operations manuals.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Skills

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to type and view a computer screen for concentrated periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
  • Ability to tolerate remote environments, indoor/outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern California, Nevada, or Utah.
  • Ability to don all forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work at heights of up to 60’.
  • Vision ability includes color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally, in the field, the employee could be exposed to hazardous, toxic, or caustic chemicals, as well as loud areas and exposed to hot piping consistent with geothermal power plant operation.

Pay

Hourly range: $41.25 - $48.00. This range is based on market pay structures. Individual compensation is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications, such as demonstrated skill level, education, and experience.

Position type: Non-Exempt. Based in Calipatria, California.
