About the role
The Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer is responsible for design changes affecting instrumentation, control systems, alarms, monitoring, and automated operation of facility systems.Responsibilities
- Prepare instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, control narratives, setpoint documentation, and interlock logic revisions.
- Support modifications to field instrumentation, control panels, operator interfaces, alarms, cameras, and monitoring systems.
- Cook up process control requirements with process and mechanical engineering changes.
- Evaluate maintainability, calibration, testing, and operability of modified control systems.
- Support startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and design verification activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with instrumentation and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of process instrumentation and control documentation.
- Experience with plant automation, alarm systems, and integrated monitoring.
- Familiarity with industrial control strategies in operating facilities.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
