Responsibilities
- Use your product knowledge to engage in customized discussions and in-person interactions based on customer’s needs in a compliant and ethical manner.
- Drive outstanding sales performance that ensures sales forecasts are met or exceeded.
- Effectively use assigned budgets to drive therapeutic and territory expectations.
- Maintains current understanding of local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers.
- Routinely shares such information with relevant Ascendis stakeholders (e.g., Sales and Commercial Leaders).
- Works with appropriate customers and accounts to understand practice structure, business model, key influencers, network structure, customer needs, and to identify business opportunities.
- Effectively and routinely use a variety of analytical tools to understand and evaluate the business to best determine how to accomplish sales objectives and apply appropriate resources in an effective and ethical manner.
- Works with leaders to develop a business plan that ensures achievement of all goals and delivery on all sales objectives. Also works to understand formulary approvals and other opportunities and how they fit into the effective implementation of the business plan.
- Demonstrate administrative excellence to ensure competent management of work hours, sales call data, customer objective responses, sample and expense reporting, and other administrative items.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of previous sales experience in a specialty sales environment, preferably rare disease and injectable experience, adult endocrinology disease state experience preferred.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous, changing environment; start-up experience preferred.
- Experience working with complex distribution systems and HUB services to ensure a smooth customer experience.
- Proven history of strong performance and demonstrated current strong performance.
- Experience selling into hospital and university systems, health networks, or other large healthcare organizations in addition to individual physicians’ offices.
- Experience in specialty pharmaceuticals or rare disease is a plus.
- A track record of navigating multiple stakeholders to get a product approved and used within a large organization.
- Strong relationship-building skills — comfortable engaging pharmacists, hospital administrators, and physicians, and tailoring communication to each.
- Demonstrated experience working with patient services in a distribution HUB and specialty pharmacies.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent decision-making, judgment, and ethics.
- Proven ability to collaborate with peers and across functions.
- Experience working in a specialty drug (rare/orphan disease) environment to ensure customers’ and patients’ needs are addressed in a compliant way.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a successful business plan based on customer and patient needs.
- Experience establishing new customer relationships and communicating technical information in a highly adaptable, ethical, and effective manner.
- To meet all credentialing requirements at all times, as updates or repeat screens may be necessary depending on territory, health system/customer demand, and company policy.
Pay
The annual base salary for this position is $190,000. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and/or individual performance.
