About the role

Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy on approved patients under the direction of a provider. Provides patient consultation as requested. Operates, monitors, and maintains the hyperbaric support systems with an established treatment plan. Patient population includes, but is not limited to, bubbles of air in blood vessels and wounds that will not heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury.

Responsible for daily maintenance of hyperbaric systems and equipment. Monitors and tracks all patient information, activity, and reports therapy results to providers. Demonstrates good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Physically meets the strenuous demands required of the position and workload.

• Demonstrate strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills

Requirements

• Complete an approved hyperbaric technician training course when eligible (National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) approval process)
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical licensed or certified position working in a clinical setting
• Currently holds an unencumbered license as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with the state board where the practice is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications

Qualifications

• Certification exam in Hyperbaric Technology offered in conjunction with all Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) Chapter
• Eligibility to take the Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) examination upon completion of a defined preceptorship period after formal training in hyperbaric technology
• Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) from the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) preferred
• Note: Employees hired prior to July 1, 2014, as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) were eligible to perform the hyperbaric technician role per NBDHMT

• Shift: Day
• Full time
• Weekly Hours: 30.00
• Predictable schedule yet flexible to cover patient care responsibilities

Pay

Salary Range: $20.50 - $33.00 per hour
