Hyperbaric Technician
Job Summary
Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy on approved patients under the direction of a provider. Provides patient consultation as requested. Operates, monitors, and maintains the hyperbaric support systems with an established treatment plan. Monitors and tracks all patient information, reports therapy results to providers. Demonstrates good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Meets the physical demands of the position.
Qualifications
- Complete an approved hyperbaric technician training course when eligible.
- Certification exam in Hyperbaric Technology is offered in conjunction with UHMS Chapter.
- Successfully complete formal training in hyperbaric technology to become eligible to take the CHT examination.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in clinical licensed or certified position working in a clinical setting.
- Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) from the NBDHMT preferred.
- Currently holds an unencumbered license as an EMT, MA, LPN, or LVN with the state board where the practice is occurring and/or possesses multistate licensure if in a NLC state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
- Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
