Hygienist - Primary Care Eastland

About the Role

Provides oral health care, dental health education, and remediable intraoral procedures to patients in the hospital clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Examines patients' teeth and gums to identify any oral health issues.
  • Cleans teeth by removing plaque, tartar, and stains.
  • Educates patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provides advice on diet and lifestyle choices that can impact oral health.
  • Administers local anesthesia and applies cavity-preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants.
  • Takes and develops dental X-rays to help diagnose dental problems.
  • Keeps detailed patient records and maintains a clean and sterile work environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene school (required).
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio (required).
  • Passed the National Boards (required).
  • Passed the Northeast Regional Boards (required).
  • Certified in CPR (required).
  • Six months of relevant experience (preferred).

Skills

  • Robust communication skills.
  • Ability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
  • Strong manual dexterity.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally: Biohazard waste, climb stairs/ladder, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, interpreting data, lifting/carrying 21-40 lbs, lifting/carrying 41-60 lbs, lifting/carrying 61-100 lbs, pushing/pulling 100 lbs or greater with assistance, pushing/pulling 26-40 lbs, pushing/pulling 41-60 lbs, pushing/pulling 61-100 lbs.
  • Frequently: Bend/twist, chemicals/medications, decision making, flexing/extending of neck, lifting/carrying 11-20 lbs, loud noises, machinery, problem solving, pushing/pulling 0-25 lbs, reaching above shoulder, sitting, squat/kneel, standing.
  • Continuously: Audible speech, blood and/or bodily fluids, color vision, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, computer skills, depth perception, fumes/gases/vapors, hand use (grasping, gripping, turning), hearing acuity, lifting/carrying 0-10 lbs, patient equipment, peripheral vision, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing (far/near), walking.

Additional physical requirements include potential for radiation exposure, a demanding environment, ability to multitask, and frequent talking on the phone or in person (67-100%).

Schedule

8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
