Hygienist

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, and preventive treatments.
• Conduct patient assessments, review medical histories, and document findings accurately.
• Take and evaluate digital radiographs according to state regulations and office protocols.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if licensed and certified).
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, periodontal health, nutrition, and preventive care.
• Assist in diagnosing and monitoring periodontal disease.
• Collaborate with dentists and team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment documentation.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and sterilization standards.
• Build positive relationships with patients to promote trust, comfort, and long-term care.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current South Carolina Dental Hygiene License in good standing.
• CPR/BLS Certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and education.
