Hygiene Laborer

About the Role

Hygiene Operators support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives by preventing hazardous elements from accumulating outside of restricted areas. This position is responsible for janitorial duties in restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, and common facility areas, as well as desanitizing respirator equipment and laundering PPE.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from Team Leader and upper management
• Sweep, mop, remove trash, and clean restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, and other assigned areas
• Assist in management of coverall and other personal protective equipment (PPE) cleaning programs
• Desanitize and clean personal protective equipment, including respirators, PAPR units, dirty clothes, and towels
• Prepare, distribute, and refill drink coolers
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) exactly as intended
• Participate in required training, Safety Meetings, and other programs
• Notify management (and possibly Engineering) of any mechanical and/or operational problems
• Safely operate heavy equipment (training provided)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Proficient in English language communication (reading, writing, and speaking) and basic math
• Passing of all pre-employment requirements, including:
  • Criminal background check
  • Employment and academic verifications
  • Drug/alcohol screen & comprehensive physical
• Previous work experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment strongly preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to machinery, mobile equipment, high noise levels, extremely hot temperatures, and chemicals
• Medically able to wear respiratory protection up to 12 hours a day, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) up to 12 hours per day (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, and respirator mask), with or without reasonable accommodation

Schedule

This position may be assigned to work day shift or night shift, and may be scheduled for 8-hour or 12-hour shifts as determined by management.
