Hydrology & Hydraulics Design Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design calculations for a variety of infrastructure and land development projects.
• Develop and review drainage reports, design plans, and supporting documentation.
• Utilize modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, and related tools to evaluate drainage systems and flood impacts.
• Support project managers in developing scope, schedule, and budgets for H&H-related tasks.
• Cook up with internal teams across transportation, site development, and environmental disciplines.
• Aid in preparation of permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies, including FEMA and DOT.
• Participate in field reviews and provide construction phase support as needed.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of work through QA/QC processes.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients through project delivery and communication.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance on technical work and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• 4 to 8 years of relevant hydrology and hydraulics experience.
• Experience with H&H modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, etc.).
• Familiarity with FEMA regulations, floodplain management, and DOT standards is preferred.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mississippi, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
