PURPOSE
This document is a description for the position of Hydro Technician for Acadian Contractor, Inc. (ACI) facility.
DESCRIPTION
- Perform hydrostatic pressure testing of piping systems, lines, vessels, and related components.
- Prepare piping systems for testing, including installing test blinds, caps, plugs, hoses, gauges, valves, and other testing equipment.
- Verify that piping systems are properly isolated and prepared prior to introducing test pressure.
- Operate hydrostatic test pumps and associated testing equipment.
- Fill, vent, pressurize, monitor, and safely depressurize piping systems in accordance with approved testing procedures.
- Maintain safe work distances and follow established procedures when working around pressurized piping and equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting and identifying leaks, pressure loss, equipment issues, and other problems encountered during testing.
- Perform line flushing, draining, and removal of test water following completion of testing.
- Maintain pressure gauges and test equipment and ensure they are appropriate for the required test pressure and within applicable calibration requirements.
- Complete hydrostatic test records, pressure charts, inspection documentation, and other required paperwork accurately.
- Communicate test results and identified deficiencies to supervisors, inspectors, quality personnel, and other project personnel.
- Follow project specifications, approved testing procedures, safety policies, and applicable industry standards.
- Participate in pre-job meetings related to hydrostatic testing activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store testing equipment and materials.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all site-specific safety requirements.
- Stop work and notify supervision when unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or unexpected pressure conditions are identified.
- Perform other duties related to piping, pressure testing, and hydrostatic testing as assigned.
JOB DUTIES
- Experience working with piping systems, hydrostatic testing, or industrial construction/fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge of piping components, valves, flanges, fittings, hoses, and pressure-testing equipment.
- Ability to read and understand piping drawings, test packages, procedures, and pressure-test documentation.
- Ability to safely work around pressurized systems and equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial environments.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safe work practices and proper use of PPE.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
