Crew · Corte Madera, CA · 1 wk ago
HybridDesign$35–$45/hrContract

Location: Corte Madera, CA (Hybrid, 3-4 days onsite per week)

About the role

Crew helps our clients deliver change through IT project delivery, business process improvement, and operational efficiency efforts. Our high-performing consultants are natural leaders who manage a wide range of responsibilities that vary from assignment to assignment. Our consultant training programs, investment in career development, and premier client portfolio ensure constant challenge and rapid growth for our employees. Crew software engineering associates use a variety of technologies in Agile and lean startup methodologies to automate manual processes, create microsites, learn new technologies, and more.

Responsibilities

Primary: Software Quality Assurance

  • Participate in business-requirements meetings, listen carefully, ask clarifying questions, and learn how requested functionality supports business outcomes and user workflows
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Galaxy application, its surrounding Claris FileMaker/Apple ecosystem, business processes, data relationships, and downstream outputs
  • Under the guidance of the business analyst and Galaxy developer, perform hands-on manual functional and regression testing of new functionality, system enhancements, bug fixes, and existing workflows
  • Learn to create, maintain, and execute clear test scenarios, test cases, and repeatable regression-test documentation
  • Validate that application behavior, data, calculations, business rules, and outputs meet documented requirements and user expectations
  • Pay close attention to visual, content, and data differences; quickly identify subtle discrepancies that could affect pricing, product information, signage, catalogs, or other business-critical outputs
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and communicate defects clearly, including expected results, actual results, evidence, and steps to reproduce
  • Collaborate closely with the business analyst and Galaxy developer to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, evaluate test implications, and verify resolutions
  • Retest resolved defects and confirm that changes have not negatively affected existing functionality or connected workflows
  • Follow established QA practices and help document clear, practical, and repeatable testing processes as knowledge develops

Secondary: Print Production, Prepress, and Color Management

  • No premedia, prepress, color-management or print-production background is required; skills will be taught over time by the department manager
  • Gradually learn the complete premedia and prepress workflow for catalogs, source books, and other printed materials, including the portions of the process performed within Galaxy
  • Perform detailed prepress quality checks to confirm that production files are accurate, complete, consistent, and ready for printing
  • Learn and apply the organization's colorization standards, color-management rules, proofing methods, and quality-control expectations
  • Compare proofs and production outputs carefully, noticing even small differences in color, content, placement, consistency, or overall print quality
  • Support press checks and work with internal stakeholders and print-production partners to identify and resolve quality issues before final production
  • Document specialized knowledge, standards, and workflows to create durable, repeatable processes for the department
  • Gradually assume greater ownership of print production and quality control responsibilities as proficiency develops

Requirements

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a natural ability to notice small visual, data, or content differences quickly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude, including the ability to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and potential quality issues
  • Dependability, follow-through, and a consistent commitment to accurate, high-quality work
  • Intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness and a strong desire to learn unfamiliar technology and specialized production processes
  • Ability to compare expected and actual results carefully, follow defined steps, and document observations accurately
  • Ability to understand business requirements, ask thoughtful questions, and convert requirements into effective functional test coverage
  • Ability and willingness to learn Galaxy, its business ecosystem, and manual software-testing fundamentals through hands-on guidance
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with analysts, developers, business stakeholders, and production partners
  • Must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and be able to work with the team onsite 2-3 days per week in Corte Madera, California
  • Genuine interest in developing long-term expertise in premedia, prepress, color management, and print production
  • Willingness to work occasional evening hours during limited production windows and to travel when required for press checks
  • Interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity and a long-term career path with the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any basic exposure to software QA, user acceptance testing, application testing, data validation, or structured quality-control work
  • Experience documenting issues, following test steps, or comparing expected and actual results
  • Comfort working in an Apple/macOS environment or learning new business applications
  • Experience in a role requiring visual precision, careful proofreading, data accuracy, production quality or detailed inspection
  • Exposure to retail, product information, catalogs, signage, publishing, design, or print production is helpful but not required

Pay

The pay range for this role is $35/hr to $45/hr, based on several factors including education, work experience, and certifications.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare package (medical, dental, vision)
  • Disability and group term life insurance
  • Health and flexible spending accounts
  • Utilization bonus
  • 401(k) with match
  • Flexible work arrangements
