Hybrid Senior Cloud Security Engineer in Mechanicsville, VA

About the role

Serve as the subject matter expert for enterprise Azure migration and cloud security. Architect, implement, and secure cloud environments in alignment with SEC530, Zero Trust, and compliance frameworks. Lead and support the design, implementation, securing, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical leadership in cloud security architecture, identity and access management, network security, security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and cloud governance.
• Identify, assess, and remediate cloud security vulnerabilities; prioritize and track remediation activities.
• Lead complex cloud security initiatives and direct technical teams; design secure cloud architecture for enterprise environments.
• Influence security architecture decisions and implement security controls in deployment pipelines.
• Explain complex security risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Review cloud solutions for security risks; define and implement security controls and compensating measures.
• Develop Azure policies and automation runbooks to enforce compliance and support incident response.
• Monitor security events using SIEM tools; coordinate incident response with SOC.
• Investigate and contain cloud security incidents; analyze logs and threats.
• Review firewall and NSG rule requests for compliance.
• Create and maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and access control schemes.
• Collaborate across Cloud Engineering, Network Engineering, Security Operations, DevOps, Risk Management, and IT leadership to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient cloud environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to ongoing improvements in cloud security posture.
