Hybrid Patient Safety Observer -District Float Pool - FT - Nights - MHS

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues and assures patient environment safety.
  • Immediately follows the departmental protocol/guidelines and seeks assistance from the clinical team when patient appears to pose a threat to self and/or others.
  • Provides thorough hand-off report utilizing standardized electronic medical review for transition of duties.
  • Performs continual visual and digital 2-way audio surveillance of up to twelve (12) patients, on up to three (3) monitors which communicates directly with assigned patients via observation software.
  • Consistently communicates with clinical team based on observation feedback of patients and waits for replacement prior to vacating the monitoring station for any reason to ensure constant patient observation remains intact.
  • Completes hourly rounding log for assigned patient for in-person duty.
  • During remote monitoring, verbally redirects the patient from engaging in at risk behavior. Contacts appropriate nursing staff if patient requires direct assistance.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • BLS American Heart E-Card

  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, high focus and attention to detail. Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) confidentiality along with related safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and competency to provide patient care throughout the South Broward Hospital District to a variety of patient populations both virtually and in person.
