About the role

The Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) at Dublin City University is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the Provenance project. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of researchers and will contribute to research on verification and provenance of digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on content provenance and verification of digital media
  • Contribute to the development of tools and methodologies for assessing content authenticity
  • Engage with stakeholders including journalists, fact-checkers, and platform representatives
  • Publish research findings in high-quality academic journals and present at conferences
  • Contribute to project reporting and deliverables
  • Collaborate with project partners across Europe

Requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Digital Media, Communications, or related field)
  • Strong research track record appropriate to career stage
  • Experience with data analysis and research methodologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of digital media ecosystems and online information environments
  • Experience with computational or quantitative research methods
  • Familiarity with issues relating to disinformation, verification, and media trust
  • Experience engaging with non-academic stakeholders

Pay

  • Salary: €43,000 – €50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Schedule

  • Full-time, fixed-term contract for 18 months
