HVAC Tune-up Technician

About the role

We are seeking a talented HVAC Tune-Up Technician to support our residential energy-efficiency program in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas. This role involves performing standardized HVAC tune-ups, collecting system data, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standardized, multi-step HVAC tune-ups on residential ducted air conditioning systems and ducted heat pumps.
  • Complete both standard and measurement & verification (M&V) tune-ups in accordance with program requirements.
  • Collect, document, and submit accurate system data for quality control and program reimbursement.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal HVAC codes and regulations.
  • Identify basic system performance issues and clearly communicate findings to homeowners.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused service as a representative of CLEAResult and the utility program.
  • Maintain a strong safety-first mindset, including assessing on-site safety conditions and stopping work when necessary.
  • Work independently in the field while staying connected with program and account management teams.
  • Travel throughout the assigned service territory; occasional overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

  • EPA Type II or Universal Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving background.
  • 3+ years of HVAC experience.
  • Experience with residential HVAC tune-ups, maintenance, or service work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently, manage schedules, and complete documentation.
  • Comfortable explaining technical information to homeowners.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role (climbing, bending, crawlspaces, rooftops).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and safety-focused work style.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college education or equivalent work experience preferred.

Skills

  • Technical proficiency in HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Pay

$30/hour

Schedule

Field-based role with approximately 80–90% hands-on field work, with minimal administration.
