HVAC Technicians (Tier I and II)
About the role
Facilities Management, Tempe campus, seeks HVAC Technicians to perform preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and maintain heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems. This position is based on the Tempe campus but will require working at other ASU campus locations based on program need.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter and belt replacement)
- Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs
- Interpret HVAC schematics and wiring diagrams
- Document work performed and ensure compliance with safety procedures
- Support on-call duties and emergency response
- Train and mentor junior technicians as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Qualifications
Essential Duties:
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter and belt replacement)

- Basic HVAC knowledge: air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems, DX units
- Competency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work safely with refrigerants and tools
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls
- Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and as-builts
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and using digital instrumentation
- Familiarity with chilled water systems, DX equipment, and airflow mechanics
Skills
Skills Required:
- Basic HVAC knowledge: air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems, DX units
- Competency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work safely with refrigerants and tools

Pay
- HVAC Technician I: $26.00- 30.00 per hour
- HVAC Technician II: $30.01- 34.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:30 pm
