HVAC Technician - Spokane Community College
About the role
Our HVAC Technician performs skilled work in the inspection, testing, servicing, and maintenance of HVAC systems, and related equipment at Spokane Colleges (Spokane Colleges) facilities. This includes servicing classrooms, lab spaces, auditoriums, offices, and more.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate heating and cooling problems, make appropriate diagnosis and make repairs to faulty HVAC equipment and HVAC systems and controls.
- Install new control components including valves, actuators, and sensors, and document HVAC control modifications at completion of projects.
- Develop cost estimates for repairs and upgrades; purchase supplies and equipment for HVAC projects; assist in specifying HVAC equipment and controls.
- Maintain Spokane Colleges building HVAC control programs and systems. Make changes to control programs to facilitate building changes and variations in program needs.
- Read and evaluate building plans and specifications.
- Assist other trades in completion of maintenance and upgrade projects.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of experience in HVAC repair and maintenance. Valid Washington State Driver’s License is required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Must be able to read and understand building plans and specifications. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to follow safety protocols and guidelines.
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of HVAC systems, ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues, and excellent communication skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $5,011 (Monthly), with potential for step advancements based on performance and experience.
Schedule
Hours are flexible and can vary based on the needs of the department. Part-time positions are typically 20-30 hours per week, while full-time positions are 30+ hours per week.
