HVAC Technician II (CORP) - 1st Shift
About the role
Join a team of professionals where you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and fixing commercial level heating, cooling, process plumbing (air and water), and ventilation systems at TURBOCAM facilities. This position, at times, will coordinate and work with external HVAC contractors depending on project size and timeline for completion.
Responsibilities
- Supports the planning, execution, and replacement of new equipment, ensuring compliance with design requirements and specifications.
- Counsels and evaluates equipment selection, reviews submittals, and makes recommendations to achieve effective design solutions.
- Analyzes equipment performance and energy efficiency to optimize functionality and sustainability.
- Facilitates and assists with the installation of various equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC systems, glycol loop pumps, and automation controls.
- Ensures smooth integration and functionality while assisting with setup and optimizing operations.
- Trains and troubleshoots complex equipment, including HVAC systems, process piping (air, water, glycol), cooling towers, boilers, chillers, and glycol pumps.
- Repairs or replaces condensers, compressors, pumps, valves, motors, bearings, belts, and other parts.
- Develops and prioritizes a parts inventory program based on lead times and equipment significance.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and technical manuals.
- Performs tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA standards.
- Performs emergency repairs as needed during off hours; acts as a member of the on-call and snow removal team.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification or associate’s degree from an HVAC program or technical school required.
- 8+ years as an HVAC technician, preferably with commercial level systems in a large facility environment.
- Ability to braze and solder piping.
- General plumbing knowledge.
- Certification through the EPA to handle refrigerants.
- Intermediate level in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Epicor maintenance software (preferred).
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex issues to internal customers and contractors.
- Valid driver’s license from his/her state of residence.
- Snow plowing experience preferred.
- Willingness to work odd hours during emergencies to ensure limited system failures and downtime.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds in a safe manner and request assistance when warranted.
- Ability to climb in and out of small spaces, crawl around machinery.
- Ranges of motion sufficient to permit climbing stairs and ladders, walking, standing, stooping, and crouching for extended periods while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Experience with building automation system (BAS) programming.
