HVAC Technician II - Bon Secours Roper Hospital

Although this position is affiliated with our MSS Charleston office, technicians will work exclusively at the Bon Secours Roper St. Francis Hospital facility, located at 2095 Henry Tecklenburg Dr, Charleston, SC 29414. Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot and startup commercial HVAC including: Commercial DX equipment up to approximately 25 tons, intake/exhaust fans, split systems, heat pumps, water source heat pumps, mini-splits, electric motor controls, light commercial furnaces, unit heaters, economizers, humidifiers, air compressors.
- Log HVAC equipment such as refrigerant circuit, electrical circuit, condition of equipment, etc.
- Drive and pick up equipment and parts as needed.
- Communicate with Team Lead, Coordination Staff, Sales Staff and Customers.
- Complete assigned tasks with minimal call-backs.
- Complete all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Observe, report and correct unsafe work environments.
- Will be included in on call rotation as needed according to business volume and requirements.
- Take care of and maintain company tools and company vehicle.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Proficient with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining commercial HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of basic refrigerant cycle, various heating components and air distribution systems.
- Proficient with brazing, leak checking and the evacuation process.
- Understands mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
- Ability to abide by basic safe work practices.
- 2+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- Universal EPA Certification.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manual, and written directions.
- Ability to write reports.
- Ability to show up on time, ready to work and in uniform.
- Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Demands
- Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing and climbing.
- Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping.
- Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to talk and hear.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
Work Environment
- Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
