HVAC Technician (GA)

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Installs and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks
• May lead and direct the work of others
• Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
• Work with technicians on maintenance and service work

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Generally required knowledge includes basic knowledge of HVAC and general maintenance.
• Not required but welcomed knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent BJU in an ethical and professional manner.
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Professional in appearance and presentation.
• Effective in oral and written communication.
• A learning spirit that humble and seeks help willing.
• Is purpose driven and has a plan for after grad school.
• Has Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Any HVAC related certificates or licenses are welcome but not required.

Other Physical Requirements

• Drive a motorized vehicle
• Work around machines
• Work above floor level
• Exposed to dust, fumes, gases
• Exposed to marked changes in temperature
• Work outdoors in varying weather
• Frequent head and neck rotations

Required Education

• Bachelors;
• Must be enrolled in post-graduate studies at BJU.
