About the role

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of building equipment and machinery as required to maintain functioning building/s or facilities. May supervise contractors or directly fabricate and install HVAC Components as needed per each work task and project.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general repairs and maintains equipment and machinery by troubleshooting and diagnosing special service problems in accordance with instructions, blueprints, manuals, and all building codes.
  • Estimates cost factors for labor and material, and determines requirements and plans for fabricating, installing, testing, start-up, and servicing HVAC equipment.
  • May be required to drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
  • Assists and trains less experienced co-workers and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required to drive personal or county vehicles to various work sites.
  • Required to climb ladders periodically to access building roofs.
  • Subject to working early morning, evening, weekend, and emergency events as required.
  • Will be required to be on call after hours as part of a weekly rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency.
  • A minimum of five (5) years as an air conditioning mechanic or technician with hands-on experience in various aspects of mechanical installation and repair in commercial and/or industrial facilities.
  • Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record.

Skills

  • Good understanding of electrical, ductwork, piping, and controls.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner.
  • Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in maintenance engineering trades, and display mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to maintain courteous, helpful behavior always.
  • Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
  • Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check, and a drug test, as required.

Schedule

Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week. Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.
