Duties and Responsibilities
The HVAC Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is an hourly, non-exempt position. The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining heating and cooling units throughout the center.
- Completes preventative and minor maintenance on all HVAC units.
- May transport students by van or automobile to various vocational sites, medical centers, recreational activities, courts, etc.
- Ensures that all tools and equipment are in good repair and kept in appropriate storage sheds and closets.
- Adheres to all PRH, PAG, CDSS and policies and procedures, and the Center's Operating Procedures.
- Ensures all equipment and facilities are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, and DOL standards.
- Maintains a work environment of zero accidents and injuries including no loss-time accidents.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and one year's related work experience.
- Technician experience preferred.
- Able to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
- Knowledge of methods needed to instill appropriate maintenance techniques.
- State commercial driver's license preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population.
- Position requires an ability to operate household appliances.
- Must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
