About the Role

To repair and maintain refrigeration equipment, air conditioning units, ventilation units, heating units (including gas hot water heaters), and install certain HVAC equipment. You will receive general instructions and the location of the unit to be repaired from your supervisor, diagnose issues, plan repair procedures, and perform necessary repairs to ensure all units operate at maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC systems using various test equipment.
  • Plan repair procedures by analyzing site conditions, blueprints, sketches, and other available information.
  • Order stocked parts directly from stores via requisition cards or pick lists.
  • Consult with and assist supervision concerning special tools and non-stock materials needed for repairs.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and gas train system repairs.
  • Test units or systems after repair and place them back in operation.
  • Install air conditioning units, including wiring, piping, ductwork, and mechanical work where feasible.
  • Verify that new HVAC systems installed by outside contractors perform according to specifications.
  • Use aerial platform equipment when required.
  • Record job and time information on work orders, PM sheets, and other forms as required.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to Engineering in the design, repair, or improvement of equipment.
  • Use the maintenance information system to locate parts and equipment information.
  • Operate mobile equipment when required.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area while observing safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate (AS) degree in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or equivalent education and relevant maintenance experience.
  • Licensed through the state of Alabama Board of Heating and Air Conditioning.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant HVAC experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with refrigeration equipment, air conditioning units, ventilation units, heating units (including gas hot water heaters), and HVAC installation.
