HVAC Technician

About the role

This HVAC Technician role, located in Tysons, VA, ensures uptime of critical systems, maintains a friendly and safe work environment for the client, and oversees all building systems, fire and life safety equipment, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, office space, and other client property. The candidate must respond to emergency calls.

The base hourly rate is estimated between $44.00 and $49.00, with potential for additional compensation through bonuses. This range reflects base compensation across all US locations, with individual pay determined by work location, relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance, repairs, and replacements on a wide variety of commercial heating and air conditioning systems, including but not limited to:
  • Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, AHUs, RTUs, VRV-VRF systems
  • Water-Source, Self-Contained & Split Systems, Pumps, plate heat exchangers
  • CRAC Units, Humidifiers, Gas Furnaces, and associated equipment
• Practice excellent safety procedures and hold fellow associates accountable for the same.
• Plan, manage, and schedule time effectively, working with the assigned manager.
• Complete each service job, PM inspection, or day’s work professionally and effectively.
• Work effectively within a team environment, demonstrating collaboration, open communication, and consideration of differing perspectives.
• Report status to customers and communicate job and contract progress using company-provided phone and software.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Availability for on-call rotation, which may require overtime or weekend work.
• Responsible for repair and maintenance of building-related mechanical, electrical, plumbing, air handling units, and other mechanical systems while on call.
• Lift heavy tools and materials up to 75 pounds, work safely from ladders or lifts, and work in tight equipment cabinets.
• Assist with obtaining proposals and coordinating work performed by outside contractors.
• Maintain van inventory, update maintenance and service records, and communicate effectively with the manager.
• Purchase necessary supplies and equipment, including loading and unloading materials.
• Ensure compliance with local and national HVAC codes and regulations.

Requirements

• HVAC Master License preferred.
• 5+ years of service experience; Journeyman or Master license preferred.
• Experience working with complex HVAC systems and equipment, including:
  • Chillers, boilers, circulating pumps, AHUs, RTUs, FCUs, Package Units
  • VAV systems (direct digital, pneumatic, and automated control systems)
  • Humidifiers, and Cooling Towers
• EPA Universal 608 certification required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to pass a background and drug test.
• Clean driving record and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
• Physically capable of walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools, climb ladders, and withstand harsh weather conditions.
