About the role

As an HVAC Technician at Wild Dunes Resort, you will strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests while exemplifying the resort’s culture and promoting it as both the Destination and Employer of Choice. You will be responsible for the daily maintenance and repairs of all hotel heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems, as well as hot and cold-water systems, including boilers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, refrigeration equipment, coolers, and freezers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily preventive maintenance on all hotel heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Perform necessary repairs in a timely manner to minimize system downtime.
  • Track and maintain inventory levels for all associated equipment and supplies.
  • Complete required reports on equipment history, including costs associated with repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain organized records of equipment walk-throughs, readings, and logs as designated by engineering management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a Refrigeration Usage Log and keep it current.
  • Monitor and review scheduled events, adjusting air handlers via the Energy Management System (EMS) to start at least 30 minutes before each event.
  • Review air conditioner operating parameters on the EMS multiple times per shift to ensure correct functionality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned shops, mechanical areas, tool carts, and tools.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept in first-class condition, replacing screws and fasteners as needed.
  • Work safely and orderly, reporting any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Clean up after each task to avoid leaving messes for housekeeping.
  • Support and ensure compliance with all Wild Dunes Resort policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as an HVAC technician in the hospitality or service industry.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience with refrigeration systems.
  • EPA certification with at least Type II or better.
  • High school graduate or technical/trade school preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet resort driving standards.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and some power tools.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Highly detail-oriented with basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong guest interaction skills, with the ability to resolve problems diplomatically.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand on feet throughout the shift with intermittent periods of walking.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Perform frequent simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements; occasional squeezing and overhead reaching.
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces occasionally.
  • Must be able to work indoors primarily but also walk outside in various weather conditions (rain, wind, heat).
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, both indoors and outside, in various weather conditions.
