Responsibilities
- Perform thorough evaluations of existing HVAC equipment.
- Decide whether it is better to repair or replace equipment and confidently relay information to homeowners.
- Read and understand wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Properly use many different meters, gauges and tools in order to effectively evaluate the status of equipment.
- Safely and neatly remove faulty parts and reinstall new parts without damage to other parts of the system.
- Perform repairs of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
- Use problem solving skills and make adaptations in order to repair equipment.
- Determine the right material needed to complete repairs.
- Keep track of parts on company vans and restock as needed.
- Maintain company vehicle appearance.
- Properly relay information via phone to other technicians, supervisors or manufacturer representatives, in order to collaborate on solutions.
- Communicate with homeowner and be able to explain issues in a manner they can understand.
- Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day
- Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time.
- Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and homeowners.
- Ensure all paperwork needed for each day is accurately filled out.
- Collect payment and return to office in a responsible manner.
- Maintain a clean, presentable appearance at all times.
- Create and maintain a high-quality evaluation and repair.
- Stay up to date on the latest innovations in the industry and maintain EPA and NATE Certifications.
Requirements
- Possession of a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
- EPA Certification.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Honest and dependable personality.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Self-motivated individual with strong ability to follow instructions and work alone, as well as work effectively within a team.
- Able to display professional company image.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a physical, drug screening and background check.
- Able to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs safely.
- Not objectionable to working in harsh conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc).
- Able to work weekends, late nights and overtime.
- Physically fit with the ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, and kneel continually.
