About the role

Tessera is seeking an organized and experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician with a positive attitude to support operations at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington. This full-time, day-shift, non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly wage and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service HVAC equipment and control systems.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, motors, etc.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal, written instructions.
  • Perform occasional painting and touch-up of structures and equipment.
  • Maintain EPA, Navy, and CFSI required refrigeration documentation.
  • Communicate directly with customers and supervisors; inform customers of unexpected or additional repairs and determine customer needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Be available for after-hours dispatch and on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of utility maintenance experience required.
  • Refrigeration transition and recovery technician certification required.
  • Type III (Universal), DDC, and pneumatic control experience required.
  • EL-06A license preferred.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
