HVAC Refrigeration Specialist

About the role

The role involves operating and maintaining the organization's heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for environmental conditions of the air quality, temperatures affecting the health and wellbeing of patients, visitors, and employees.
• May supervise tasks of other facility workers by allocating and coordinating workflow, training, and advising in more complex phases of assignments.
• Provides preventive maintenance and repair work throughout the hospital on HVAC systems.
• Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms.
• This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications, and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid driver’s license. HVAC Technician License. Five (5) years’ experience with refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling controls, and air quality standard/regulations.
• Preferred Qualifications: High School education or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb and work off of ladders, scaffolding or electric lifts and operate basic manual cleaning equipment.

Working Environment

• Maintain established department and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environment, infection and hazardous material control.
• Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment for patient care.

Skills and Abilities

• Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with patients, visitors and staff.
• Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules including an ability to integrate multiple factors which may have an impact on patient care.
