HVAC/R Journeyman

About the role

Valiant is seeking an HVAC/R Journeyman to join their team. This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various HVAC/R equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install or repair HVAC/R equipment such as chillers, AHU's, cooling towers, VAV's, EAV's, CAV's, roof-top and DX units, steam generators, laboratory environmental/walk-in boxes, exhaust systems, laboratory fume hoods, and BAS systems.
• Locate and diagnose failed components in applicable environmental systems or equipment based on blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
• Communicate with management, teammates, and customers through meetings, face-to-face interactions, and written communications.
• Troubleshoot equipment, perform project take-offs, and provide quotations to support the procurement process.
• Execute scheduled and unscheduled tasks with a focus on quality.
• Perform maintenance on all types of HVAC/R equipment.
• Communicate complex communication/equipment repair and/or replacement projects, intricate maintenance schedules, work plans, SOWs, and detailed cost estimates.
• Serve as the point of contact for work control.
• Work closely with the chief engineer and project manager to ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current journeyman’s license (Virginia) and ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
• Education and certification: High school diploma or GED, and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 5+ years’ experience in commercial/industrial facilities, strong understanding of refrigeration theory, knowledge of current codes and standard practices, and a solid understanding of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair principles.
• Skills: Experience with HVAC/R (maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair).
• Desired qualifications: Experience with military and/or DoD facilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
• Regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods.
• Must be able to travel to job locations by automobile.
