Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Responsibilities

  • Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality (e.g., chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes).
  • Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns or callbacks.
  • Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Conduct warranty service by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper equipment use, maintenance schedules, and operating manuals.
  • Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC units, including directing apprentice-level technicians through hands-on demonstration.
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and microcontrollers, and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers and off-site learning modules.
  • Maintain all required certifications and continue developing new skill sets.
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area are always upheld.
  • Complete jobsite hazard assessments prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied, customer safety policies, and OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred).
  • 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as mandated by local law district.
  • Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
  • Previous experience mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • EPA-approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred).
  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
  • Current first aid/CPR card (preferred).

Pay

The expected hourly rate for this position is $48.50 in PA. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
