HVAC Mechanic

About the Role

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, located in Virginia Beach, VA, is hiring a Full-time, day-shift HVAC Mechanic. The HVAC Mechanic is experienced in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. This individual inspects, repairs, and maintains HVAC systems, as well as maintains parts, supplies, and equipment. The role requires adherence to operational and departmental guidelines, and compliance with regulatory requirements such as OSHA.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent – (Required)
• Trade School Graduate – (Required)
• 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in air conditioning, refrigeration, math, physics, chemistry, and basic mechanics (Preferred)
• Proficient with direct digital controls (DDC)
• Universal certification (Preferred)
• Journeyman's license for Heating Vent and AC must be attained by the end of the first year of employment.

Qualifications

• 3 years of HVAC experience – (Required)
• Driver's License - Certification - Other/National – (Required)
• Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 1 (Small Appliances) - EPA – (Required)
• Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 2 (High-Pressure Appliances) - EPA – (Required)
• Journeyman Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Tradesman (JHVA) – Certification – Other/National (Preferred)

Pay

The base pay range for full-time employment is $32.58 - $48.79 hourly. Additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours a week; Day Shift from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Weekend schedule every 4-5 weeks.
