Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC/R systems including heating systems, ventilation systems, air conditioners, refrigeration units, pumps, desiccant dehumidification systems, chillers, cooling towers, and clean steam humidification systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC/R infrastructure.
- Inspect systems to identify deficiencies, potential failures, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead HVAC/R-related maintenance and repair projects within facility operations -without supervisory authority.
- Serves as a lead, coordinating the work of others without direct supervisory authority.
- Develop scopes of work for system repairs, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Cookordinate work activities effectively with team members, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of work performed.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal safety regulations and codes.
- Provide off-hour support for scheduled repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and operational assistance during weather-related events as required.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to provide support for emergency situations outside of normal business hours.
Basic Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of relevant HVAC/R experience is required.
- Possession of an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical controls, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform physical duties including frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Duties require full range of motion, and include walking, prolonged standing, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and working in confined areas, potential exposure to particulates, vapors or noisy environment.
- This position is considered safety sensitive and will be subject to random drug testing per the Leidos Biomedical Research Drug Free Workplace Program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
