HVAC Experienced Pipefitter

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and technical specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
  • Plan and schedule pipe installation sequencing to maintain project workflow and coordinate with other trades (e.g., electrical, structural).
  • Perform material takeoffs, order necessary materials, tools, and equipment, and manage on-site inventory.
  • Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and installation of various types of pipe and materials.

Quality & Safety

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in strict compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and rectify potential hazards.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to project codes and specifications.
  • Monitor and oversee essential quality activities like pipe system testing.

Communication & Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the crew, the Project Superintendent/Manager.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of work progress, as-built conditions, and safety documentation.
  • Troubleshoot on-site technical issues and recommend solutions to avoid delays.
  • Track job costs and production rates to ensure work remains within budget.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • To be effective, a Piping Foreman must possess a strong blend of technical expertise, supervisory experience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert knowledge of piping systems (including materials, joining methods like welding/threading/soldering, fittings, and testing procedures).
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and techniques, particularly related to excavation and utility installation.
  • A solid understanding of relevant building codes and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Experience & Education
  • High School Diploma or GED is typically required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Pipefitter, Pipe Welder, or related craft.
  • Relevant Journeyman certification (e.g., Pipefitter, Plumber) is preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification is frequently mandatory.
