About the role
Join Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. This onsite Equipment Commissioning Manager (EqCM) role supports the Equipment North America (EqNA) organization in startup, warranty, and coordination of service needs. For the first six months, you will report to the Regional Service Manager, then transition to the Branch Service Manager, with accountability to the HVAC Equipment Operations Manager (HEOM). You will serve as the single point of contact for all service scope related to equipment contracts and interface directly with EqNA customers.
Responsibilities
- Support EqNA sales during project estimates by determining if service can be performed as a Service Request (S/R) or if a Service Mechanical project is needed, based on project duration, size, complexity, and project management requirements.
- Provide custom quotes for service items outside of Program, Commission, Adjust, and Train (PCAT) policy.
- Verify branch service technicians are trained for identified equipment; coordinate training with the Truck Based Service Manager (TBSM) as needed.
- Attend Ready-to-Operate (RTO) meetings for complex projects or those sold with Planned Service Agreements (PSA) to identify service/warranty scope concerns and validate PSA details.
- Conduct weekly service turnover meetings with Systems Application Engineers (SAE) and Branch Operations Manager (BOM) to coordinate and monitor service scopes for EqNA business.
- Work directly with customers to introduce Connected Service capabilities and coordinate scheduled work and changes.
- Verify asset records in NxGen are created and assigned to the correct site for future service requests/quotes.
- Coordinate delivery-related communications for FOB Destination and provide updates to the SAE and customer.
- Verify warranty information in Warranty Navigator; address discrepancies with the SAE and Warranty Admin team.
- Monitor Long-Term Storage (LTS) requirements and coordinate with the SAE and customer.
- Promote Pronto Forms utilization for prestart checklists, startup, unit inspections, and warranty work.
- Ensure startup completion, resolve issues, and provide customers with startup documentation; register equipment in Warranty Navigator.
- Provide warranty certification to EqNA customers.
- Work with Customer Resource Coordinators (CRC) to ensure prompt invoicing of service requests upon completion.
- Act as the first point of contact for warranty requests, dispatching technicians promptly and filing claims.
- Escalate and resolve issues preventing warranty work completion, including parts and resource availability, and collaborate with product technical support to accelerate cash collections.
- Facilitate technical support for EqNA customers as needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience or a degree in Technical Engineering or Construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Writer, and basic Windows operating systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with good conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to represent Johnson Controls positively and communicate effectively across varying technical levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously with professionalism, cooperation, and persistence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA degree in Engineering or Construction.
- HVAC equipment knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Pay
Hiring salary range: $89,000 – $121,000 USD. Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market alignment.
