About the Role

You’re an expert with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building mechanicals. Your know-how and commitment to excellence will ensure that Verizon’s building systems always operate at maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Start, operate, repair, and maintain various types of heating and air conditioning plants and associated equipment (e.g., air handling equipment, refrigeration equipment).
  • Maintain and repair motor controllers and associated electrical equipment and control circuits.
  • Install, repair, and calibrate pneumatic and/or electric controls for temperature and humidity control equipment.
  • Perform inspections and make repairs on equipment/systems as required by company practices and/or regulations/ordinances.
  • Review and interpret work orders, operating instructions, diagrams, building plans, and mechanical equipment drawings.
  • Climb ladders, work aloft, and move/lift items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as determined by business needs.

Work tour hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is as needed by the Company.

Requirements

  • Valid NY refrigeration license (Q-01).
  • Ability to pass, obtain, and maintain a current certificate of fitness for one or all of the following: fire standpipe, sprinkler, welding, oil burner, and air compressor operation.
  • Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations-40 CFR Part 82 Subpart H.
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must meet safety-related requirements including OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers, and/or company standards.
  • Must pass standard tests for this position as established by the Company.
  • Medical evaluation is required.
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Qualifications

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Relevant vocational or technical training or 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment.

Test(s) Required: Building Maintenance Qualification Test, Verizon Job Fit Test B.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40.

Work tour hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is as needed by the Company.

Pay

The weekly wage range for the New York location(s) based on a full-time schedule is: $806.50 - $2,245.50.
