Hourly pay range: $17.50 – $26.50. Reports to Branch Manager.
Role Overview
The HVAC Counter Sales Associate increases sales and customer satisfaction by efficiently and courteously assisting walk-in and telephone customers with the selection and acquisition of needed HVAC products. This role applies technical product knowledge to satisfy customer needs and build lasting relationships.
Responsibilities
- Pull, fill, pack, and set up orders for delivery or pickup; determine order status at any given time.
- Follow all special instructions pertaining to individual orders; retrieve orders from the warehouse quickly and accurately.
- Receive shipments, log into inventory, and maintain inventory accuracy through regular audits.
- Process returns accurately.
- Service counter and phone customers by taking and accurately entering orders, giving priority to regular accounts.
- Use electronic and published catalogs to provide product, pricing, and availability information.
- Solve or quickly escalate customer problems; follow company pricing and credit guidelines.
- Meet and greet all customers at the point of sale with service, respect, and knowledge.
- Advise and actively upsell customers on complementary products; convert requests to stocked brands where appropriate.
- Demonstrate comprehensive product and industry knowledge; articulate the company's competitive advantage.
- Learn and demonstrate competence in the features, functionality, and appropriate application of all product lines.
- Analyze customer needs to determine if they can be helped at the counter or should be escalated to the next level of service.
- Build and maintain customer and team relationships; adjust approach for different customer types.
- Keep and maintain a neat, organized counter area and product displays.
- Accurately and carefully follow established procedures; ensure high-quality, error-free work output.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Willingness to learn; product/applications and wholesale distribution experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for up to 8 hours daily.
- Frequent stooping, squatting, stretching, bending, and lifting required to reach inventory items.
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
