HVAC Cooling Customer Engineer - Marble, NC

About the Role

A Cooling Customer Engineer (CE) is responsible for installation, commissioning, scheduled, and emergency service on Liebert air products. The CE must establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and other relevant parties while maintaining continuous communication with area/district offices and direct management.

Responsibilities

  • Role:
    • Rely on direction to accomplish goals.
    • Perform multiple work-related tasks.
    • Work under direct supervision or independently based on training.
    • Maintain certifications as required by the job.
  • Technical:
    • Provide on-site and phone assistance to customers.
    • Communicate with National Technical Support on equipment issues.
    • Perform scheduled maintenance according to company guidelines.
    • Implement Field Change Notices as per published guidelines.
    • Stay current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.
  • Safety:
    • Operate safely in accordance with published safety guidelines.
    • Wear appropriate PPE as per company guidelines and job duties.
    • Adhere to the "14 hours rule" for work hours policy.
    • Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Administration:
    • Provide accurate and timely reporting (timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, ticket closure, forms, etc.).
    • Maintain individual inventory in accordance with company policy.
    • Maintain company property (vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, pager, etc.).
  • Customer Satisfaction:
    • Provide proper communication to internal and external customers.
    • Give estimated time of arrival to customers where applicable.
    • Complete scheduled maintenance documentation and provide it to the customer and local office.
    • Strive for "first time fix" for customer equipment.
    • Maintain customer satisfaction rates according to company guidelines.
    • Attend customer meetings as required.
  • Performance:
    • Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities.
    • Complete all work efficiently and timely.
    • Make technical and commercial decisions under pressure.
    • Evaluate site and equipment for appropriate billing status.
    • Maintain productive utilization rate according to company guidelines.
    • Perform inventory cycle counts as per company guidelines.
    • Adhere to company dress code and safety regulations.
    • Meet or exceed on-site response time requirements.
    • Understand and comply with company startup/escalation processes.
    • Maintain proper internal communications with managers, co-workers, and support services.

Requirements

  • Experience (one or more of the following):
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
    • HVAC Certificate Program degree or equivalent field experience.
    • Six years of military experience in a related field.
    • Equivalent industry experience with EPA refrigerant license.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Professional and reliable.
    • Team player.
    • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
    • Working knowledge of Ohm’s law and HVAC theory.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic site evaluation skills (environmental temperature, general operating conditions).
    • Elementary fix/repair techniques based on directed supervision.
    • Ability to complete tasks and restore units to full operating conditions.
    • Strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, safety, organizational, planning, and computer skills.
    • Mechanical aptitude.

Physical & Environmental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects/tools/components.
  • Reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Talk, hear, and smell.
  • Sit and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).
  • Consistently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Work in extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • Work in medium to high noise levels (need to shout to be heard).
  • Work around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
  • Use protective equipment (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors with no effective protection from weather.

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required.
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
