HVAC Controls Technician III

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time Controls Technician III to install, program, and service commercial building digital control systems. The role offers increasing responsibilities based on exposure, troubleshooting skill development, and consistent task completion. You will work with Daikin-branded controls or third-party systems in an innovative and excellence-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive and professional customer service to build and maintain long-term customer relationships
- Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems
- Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed
- Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming
- Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians
- Train and mentor less experienced technicians
- Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects
- Commission controls installations and verify control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications
- Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documents in a timely manner
- Interact with and train customers by offering status reports and explaining technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in available training and maintain all required certifications
- Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area are upheld
- Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical training and 5+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
- Rotational Emergency Call Support as required
- Required license(s) and/or training card as mandated by local law
- Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in BAS, HVAC, or related industry
- Proficiency with test instruments and calibration tools
- Competency in operation of engineering/commissioning tools, DDC controllers, field devices, and BACnet protocol fundamentals
- Competency in the operation of HVAC equipment and controls
- Ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams
- Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification
- Experience with integration protocols such as: BACnet MST/IP, LON, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL
- Strong computer skills, including computer networking fundamentals
- OSHA 10 certification (provided during onboarding if not already obtained)
- Current first aid/CPR card

Pay
The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $35.40 - $56.96 in Alabama. The range reflects the pay for all positions in this job grade, with individual base pay dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
