About the role
The Controls Technician for Building Management Systems (BMS) and Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems will be responsible for completing service calls in addition to working on larger projects under the direction of a project manager or controls engineer.
Responsibilities
- Install DDC (Direct Digital Control) controllers
- Read and review control specifications and diagrams
- Assist with wiring and installation of unit accessories
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the controls field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
- Controls Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Electronics Technician or similar diploma obtained from an accredited educational institution or meet the equivalent requirements as established by Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Adherence to all company policy and procedures
- Availability and means to report to multiple job sites as assigned
Work Environment
- Work in varying temperatures, both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
- Exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- Possible work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands
- Use of construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
- Work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires
- Visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Travel
May require travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military experience
- Experience with Alerton controls
- Experience with DDC, PLC or similar Ladder-Logic programming
- Experience with Microsoft Visio
