Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site project leader to plan, implement, and complete control systems projects for assigned customers.
• Perform or delegate tasks including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
• Oversee the overall financial results of assigned projects, including costs, project billings, and collections, while balancing customer satisfaction and financial performance.
• Actively pursue selling change orders and coordinate communication with customers during all project phases.
• Ensure proper execution of warranty and provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as needed.
• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements and adherence to safety standards.
• Complete installation hardware design and software programming using established standards.
• Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate contractual scope of work and the impact of client-issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.
• Manage the selection, ordering, budget, and delivery schedule of project materials, securing pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors.
• Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes.
• Coordinate jobsite activities for panel and field device locations, ensuring installation aligns with Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
• Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers, validating system functionality and resolving issues.
• Provide accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation.
• Manage project costs, billings, and collections to maintain profitability and positive cash flow.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, and System Designers.
• Communicate project status to management and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
• Send warranty letters to customers upon project completion and ensure proper warranty execution.
• Develop project plans and coordinate resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
• Provide site-specific training for owners/operators on system operation and ensure accurate documentation and manuals are delivered.
• Maintain long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Attend job progress meetings as required and adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry or a technical certification/degree with 2 years of HVAC industry experience.
• Relevant technical hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
• Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
• Demonstrated ability to perform work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong personal computer skills.
• Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting.

Pay

Hiring salary range: $76,000–$110,000 (determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market alignment). This role offers a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
