About the role

This role splits time between the office and customer job sites, where you will configure controllers, develop control sequences, commission systems, and work directly with installation teams to deliver fully operational building automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequence of operations.
  • Develop and test software programs to operate the system.
  • Apply field change information for as-built drawings and software.
  • Perform tasks required to execute and fully complete assigned projects, including system programming, integration, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Complete hardware design and software programming using established standards.
  • Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required.
  • Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation.
  • Provide accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation.
  • Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system, either fully or with assistance, and ensure training is completed.
  • Provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training and experience in a similar field.
  • 3+ years of technical, hands-on experience with systems design, commissioning, and programming of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Proficiency working with Alerton, Tridium, or Siemens required.
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls concepts in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems, with the ability to program and commission pre- and post-installation, preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all tasks.
  • Legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for employer-based sponsorship now or in the future.

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment including laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Travel to customer job sites requires the ability to work in varied circumstances, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment.
  • Work in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • May be required to satisfy project-, customer-, or company-specific requirements.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted.

Pre-hire requirements include a drug test and a background check.
