HVAC Controls Engineer

About the Role

Loyal Source is seeking a skilled HVAC Engineer to support a large-scale construction project in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing field support team on a 3-year prison construction project consisting of multiple buildings and coordination across numerous contractors and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess strong HVAC systems knowledge, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.

Project Overview

• Large men's prison construction project located in Sioux Falls, SD
• Multi-building campus with multiple contractors and subcontractors
• Long-term, 3-year project commitment
• Focus on building and supporting a strong local field operations team

Responsibilities

• Perform field troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and system validation activities for HVAC and building automation systems
• Support HVAC controls systems and coordinate resolutions for technical issues
• Collaborate with subcontractors, project managers, owners, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
• Review system performance and assist with commissioning efforts
• Track action items, manage follow-up activities, and provide engineering support throughout project execution
• Utilize testing equipment, including volt meters and multimeters, to diagnose and resolve system issues
• Support installation verification and ensure systems are operating according to design specifications

Role Breakdown

• 50% Field Troubleshooting & Commissioning
  • Diagnose and resolve HVAC and controls-related issues
  • Conduct system testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Support field operations and technical problem-solving
• 50% Engineering Coordination & Follow-Up
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Manage technical documentation and issue tracking
  • Support project engineering activities and system performance reviews

Requirements

• Experience working with HVAC systems, controls, commissioning, or building automation systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Experience using volt meters and multimeters
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check

Pay

$44.41 hourly
