About the Role

As an HVAC Controls Design Engineer, you will design building automation controls projects in collaboration with customers and sales teams. This role involves working closely with sales and account managers to meet customer expectations, communicating with building owners, contractors, and field support staff, and reviewing sales scopes and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in turnover meetings to assess sales estimates and project layouts.
  • Select cost-effective products and installation methods.
  • Prepare design documents, including system layouts and electrical drawings.
  • Provide technical support to installation teams.
  • Design network architecture for operator workstations and controllers.
  • Develop HVAC equipment operation sequences.
  • Manage the ordering of products and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure proper system installation.
  • Create operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Communicate effectively in visual, oral, and written formats.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of technical education and relevant field experience.
  • Preferred experience with Building Automation Systems and familiarity with LON and BACnet protocols.
  • Strong computer skills and electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC and IT systems.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, especially in stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.
  • Knowledge of the industry is a plus.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain a cooperative demeanor with customers.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. The office environment involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
